New Products

As you may know or not know, I own an online shop called Tapered Nomad.

I've have finally put up the fruits of my labor out into the world for customers to consume. Take a look at the quirky pillows I have created. We have prints and patterns of all kinds to florals, stripes, animal, plaids, more stripes to satisfy every sad couch's dream of being a little more comfy with a little more fun.

Gotta keep trying.

Well...........FUCK

I said I was going to do this. I said I was going do that. I gave myself one goal and I've already fucked up but hey its ok. If you read the last post then you know what this goal was. This is the problem with me, I get a huge boost in motivation and do the thing I've been putting off for a while to an extreme quickly depleting my drive for it. Then I just suddenly stop. Hoping that writing this will bring back whatever is inside me to get back and moving on this blog.

Taking a challenge.

Today I am taking on the challenge of writing at least one blog post a day.

I haven't done something consistent in my life since graduating from college. Its time to get myself back on a rhythm and groove.

Interview with Lululemon

I don't know if you've heard of Lululemon but here is how my interview experience went.

Of course I'm always fifteen minutes early to everything and wasn't different this time. I wait inside the store checking out the extremely expensive clothing on display that I love so much. We meet a key leader of the store Kelly and each of us grabs a yoga mat proceeding out into the parking lot of the store. Sitting in a circle we start out with introducing ourselves (name, where are you from, and favorite way to sweat). So the group interview process begins, oh yeah this was a group interview. we do an "icebreaker" where we pull a slip of paper out of a bag and on each slip is something that we have to teach to the whole group even if its something know knowledge of the task. I pulled "how to read a palm". I BS'ed my whole tutorial and they bought it until I told them I had no idea what I was doing. Then we got into the "serious questions". For some reason the question did not resonate as well as I thought making the production of an answer extremely difficult plus hearing everyone else's answers made me forget what I was going to say. The other interviewees were definitely on point and I think they were better candidates for the job than me. Overall this group interview was interesting and a good experience.

Renewing an Idea

GREAT NEWS!!!

I have started my own shop. Its a little daunting especially when I thought of this idea two years ago in my entrepreneurship class in college. The project was to make a "backup plan" or a way to make a little change other than our thriving careers as an artist. I thought of the idea of selling curated vintage clothing items on the internet with the addition of Pinterest inspired products. These products are pillow cases converted from old thrifted button ups which were surprisingly a hit when I made a few for fun. I have always had the idea of pursuing this business also undertake same name as this blog Tapered Nomad.

So what's Tapered Nomad you may ask?

I guess now its a brand that I have made for myself. The store is for right now still a working progress but eventually I see it growing faster than expected. Everything is in my hands. I make the product, I photograph the product, I advertise the product, I am my own social media manager, I am the store manager, I am my own boss, and I am the owner. I am doing a lot of shit to make this business a success. Its a lot of responsibility and I am taking on the challenge.

I have some wonderful pillows on sale in my store as you read this post. Its gonna be a wild ride through this new endeavor in my life. Check out the store by clicking the link "store" at the top of the blog.

Is it really worth it?

In approximately two hours I will be learning a dance routine for an audition for Sideshow the Musical at 3D Theatricals. My started at around 8 AM because of the anxiety of this audition. Shout Out to Zipcar for existing and hooking me up with a car so I can actually attend this audition. $82 gone and I have car for a day. I don't know if I will even get this job. This whole week I have been thinking "Is all this money and time spent to prepare and get to this audition really worth it?". I have no idea, it could be best $82 spent for an audition or a complete waste. I mean leaving 5 hours before the audition actually commences is a little drastic. But I will always take being early than being late any day. Hopefully all this prep and work for this audition pays off. If not, its whatever. Just hoping for that callback.

Got a callback!!!

Then I got cut.

Purple Rain. Pantages.

Tonight at The Hollywood Pantages Theatre, a special guest had been escorted through the back door of the theater. There was a mystery/rumor going around on who this mystery guest was. By the end of the night the mystery was solved. PRINCE was in the building y'all!!! A storm of purple rain has swept through the Pantages.

That's all.

It is 2015

I don't know what I want to accomplish for the year of 2015. It seems to me that I am starting to feel that I am slowing down, losing momentum in my pursuit of being the person I want to be. I think I need to know who/what I want to be. I'm in a stuck place. There are many things I want to do this year and there is a gut feeling that I don't have enough time. Spreading myself too this is something I don't want to do to myself. This year is also the time to start saying no to opportunities strategically to further my career.

This year's goal list
  1. no buying any clothing unless it is needed for a job
  2. live more sustainable and greener
  3. choreograph something
  4. lose 10 lbs
  5. make out with a complete stranger
  6. start this youtube channel I planned in high school LOL
Some of these things are pretty do-able. Yet I don't have a good feeling about this year. I mean I will try to make it the best like every other year but I can't make any promises.

Welcome to Hollywood.

The fam bam came down to SoCal for Labor Day weekend and a dance performance at my school. We  went to the Pasadena City College Flea Market and did touristy things. This was my first time going to this flea market so there were no expectations. This place was huge. Two parking lots, and 3 levels of a parking garage full of vendors selling their antiques, clothing, and other knick knacks. The goal was to find my roommate a 21st birthday present. And it was a success the gift is down below. Then after a day of heat and shopping in Pasadena we headed to go be kooky tourists to see the HOLLYWOOD Sign taking cheesy photos. Might as well take my lookbook post when there is a beautiful view. Click below for photos.
